My first post will consist of the basics of hip hop from the 90's. The first group I would like to display is the Wu-Tang Clan. They are my personal favorite and they are one of the most well known groups in hip hop. They are from Staten Island New York and their members are the RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, U-god, Masta Killa, and the late ODB- Ol Dirty Bastard. They became known during the prime time of hip hop, 1993 with their hit single "Protect Ya Neck". This premiered in their first album the 36 Chambers that was also released in 93. This was a very popular album when it came out and it still is today.  The creators of the wu-tang clan were cousins and grew up in the same neighborhood. This is the reason why they had so much chemistry and style that will last forever. The cousins were RZA, GZA, and ODB, and they constructed the foundation of the wu-tang clan.

These people were very influential to make hip hop what is it today and that is mainly from their first album the 36 chambers. They had a lot of other good albums but this is by far the best and most respected. Their style was like no one else. They combined the shaolin and the wu-tang to make an asian kung-fu style of expressing their lives. Here is a video of their first song as a group, "Protect Ya Neck".

I hope you have enjoyed the wu-tang clan and there is more great underground hip hop to come on this blog so stay tuned!
